In the final of the men's singles, Linh Giang defeated the Malaysian host player Chee Hui with a 2-1 victory (11-9, 7-11, 11-7), after nearly 1 hour of competition. Not only to win the championship, Linh Giang also impressed with the action of Fair-Play: Actively ask the referee to review the score to hand over the right to serve the opponent. This victory creates a historic milestone for Pickleball Vietnam in the international arena.
Pickleball – Sports combining tennis, table tennis and badminton – is exploding worldwide and attracts many Vietnamese athletes to switch to competition. With the foundation from tennis, Linh Giang quickly adapted and made a strong impression. His achievement not only brought back the title, but also inspired the domestic Pickleball community in the country that is growing strongly.
Earlier, Quang Duong – Vietnamese -American talent – also surprised the sports world to become the Pickleball World Champion PPA Tour 2024 in the US – the highest tournament system of this sport. Quang Duong is the first Vietnamese -based athlete to achieve this achievement and currently competing successfully among the professional pickleball world, once dubbed the “prodigy” of this subject.
