The semi -finals of men's and women's singles at the Canadian Open 2025 tennis tournament have ended with a series of surprises and emotions. While in the female branch, the 17 -year -old Victoria Mboko phenomenon continued the wonderful journey, in the male branch, Karen Khachanov created a big shock when defeating the No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev.
In Toronto, the semi -final between Zverev and Khachanov took place full of tense. Khachanov won 6-3 in the first set and even though Zverev won 6-4 in Set 2, he could still revive to defeat the opponent with a score of 7-6 in Set 3 after the Tie-Break series decided.
The match ended after nearly 3 hours. This is the first time Khachanov has defeated Zverev after the last 3 losses, including 2 matches on the hard field taking place in 2024, and none of them lasted up to 3 sets.
Defeating Zverev, Khachanov will meet the winner of the Taylor Fritz – Ben Shelton match in the final. Shelton played impressively from the beginning of the tournament and first reached the semi -finals of a Masters 1000.
Meanwhile in Montreal, Victoria Mboko continues to be a fever. The Canadian teenage player defeated the Wimbledon 2022 Elena Rybakina champion with a suffocating score of 1-6, 7-5, 7-6.
Mboko has saved a spectacular Match Point and won, thereby becoming the youngest Canadian player to reach the final of the tournament since 1987. This victory also helped her for the first time in a WTA 1000 final in her career.
Mboko will face the winner in the semi -finals between Naomi Osaka and Clara Tauson. Osaka shows a revival style when it is easy to overcome Elina Svitolina with a score of 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile, Tauson, who used to have an Iga Swiatek in the third round, continued impressive performance when defeating Madison Keys to win tickets to the semi -finals.
Canadian Open 2025 is entering a dramatic final stage. Names like Mboko, Khachanov, Shelton or Tauson have brought a new breeze, promising attractive and unpredictable finals.
