According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, defender Piero Hincapie of Leverkusen agreed to move to Arsenal and reached personal agreement with the Gunners.
Romano emphasized that Arsenal will prepare to send the first offer to Leverkusen, most likely in the form of borrowing with a mandatory buying clause at the end of the season.
According to the German press, Hincapie had a contract to break the contract worth 60 million euros, and Leverkusen wanted to collect this number to release. However, negotiations are being conducted to lower this number to the level of market value.
In the opposite direction, Arsenal is about to push defender Jakub Kiwior to Porto, and the deal will soon be completed, according to Romano.
Hincapie mainly played in the left -back position, but he could also kick the left -back. The 23 -year -old player has been on the list of Arsenal targets for a long time.
Joining Leverkusen from Ca Talleres (Argentina) in the summer of 2021, Hincapie quickly affirmed its position as one of the most promising central defenders in Europe. After 4 seasons in Germany, he had 166 appearances for Leverkusen and 46 captured Ecuador.
Hincapie developed dramatically in Leverkusen, especially after the impressive performance at Copa America 2021, where he played so brightly that Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen's sports manager, had to accelerate the planning plan.
A versatile, technical and fighting center-back, Hincapie can play in a 3-person defense or even Wing-back. He used to be the key factor of Leverkusen season 2023/24, when this team was unbeaten in the Bundesliga, winning the national cup and reaching the Europa League final.
