Arsenal had to cancel their private flights arranged to carry Jakub Kiwior to Porto to complete the £ 22.5 million transfer deal. The reason is because the Gunners have not reached an agreement with Leverkusen about the transfer of Piero Hincapie.
Although Hincapie has agreed on personal terms with London Gunners, the contract has not been signed. Therefore, Arsenal will not be able to approve the sale of Kiwior, unless the Hincapie deal is completed.
For his part, Porto also reached an individual agreement with Kiwior, who is willing to sign an initial contract with a term of 5 years. The Portuguese team is seeking to sign a defender loan contract with a season with the term of purchase in the summer next year. According to the British press, Porto arranged a private plane to take Kiwior to Portugal to complete the transfer, but the Gunners canceled the flight at the end of August 26.
The transfer of Kiwior depends on whether the Gunners can recruit Hincapie. Arsenal is aiming at a defender loan contract, accompanied by the Buying Clause in the summer of 2026. However, Leverkusen will not agree if Hincapie's £ 52 million contract release (60 million euros) is not activated.
Leverkusen lost a number of key players in this transfer. Stars like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Granit Xhaka and Jonathan Tah have all left the club. Therefore, they do not want to weaken the squad of coach Erik Ten HAG unless their requirements are met.
In less than a week, the summer transfer will end, Mikel Arteta hopes the club can find a solution for the Hincapie transfer. The Gunners will return to the Premier League on Sunday when they confront the Liverpool champions at Anfield.
