Striker Alexander Isak still kept his determination to leave St James's Park to move to Liverpool, despite the negotiations with the Newcastle leadership.
Isak repeated the desire to leave before the transfer closed next Monday, and his heart put in the Liverpool shirt. The Reds once sent a proposal, and despite being ready to return to the negotiation table, they were still 150 million pounds away from the price of Newcastle.
Newcastle president, Yasir al-Rumayyan, is trying to find the solution to keep Isak. The directors of Jamie Reuben and Jacobo Solis arrived at the Swedish striker's house to discuss before the match against Liverpool, in the hope of reintegrating into the UK in the squad after Isak quit training and not playing in the first two matches of the season.
However, Isak proved definitive, confirming that he did not change his intention and wanted to leave. Last week, the striker also publicly accused the club “breaking promises” and declared “the relationship could not continue”.
The scenario of the incident is likely to last until the end of the transfer period, when Newcastle wants to keep the pillar and difficult to find an alternative to the urgent time.
According to British media, Newcastle will only consider selling Isak if 3 conditions are met:
- Liverpool must pay the full price of 150 million pounds.
- The club needs to recruit two new players to replace, before agreeing to let Isak leave.
- The transaction time must be sufficient for Newcastle to close the replacement, avoiding falling into a passive position.
In an attempt to find a replacement, Newcastle contacted Yoane Wissa (Brentford) but was denied both suggestions, including a £ 40 million package. They were also rejected by Wolves after offering £ 50 million for Jorgen Strand Larsen, when the “wolf” resolutely kept the Norwegian striker and prepared to extend the contract with him.
