The future of striker Viktor Gyokeres is becoming one of the biggest focus of the summer transfer window 2025. And recently, there is information about a hidden clause that allows him to leave for only 60 million euros.
After the explosive season with 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting Lisbon, the Swedish striker attracted strong attention from European giants, of which Arsenal and Man United.
Despite being sought after, Sporting has not received any official offer for Gyokeres. However, internal negotiations between this player, the representative of Hasan Cetinkaya and the President of Sporting – Frederico Varandas – have revealed many noticeable information about the potential transfer fee.
Earlier, the communicator reported that Gyokeres and the representative reached an agreement with Sporting in the price of about 60 million euros plus 10 million surcharges. But Varandas President denied this, even accusing Gyokeres is refusing to play to put pressure on the team.
In fact, the current contract of the 27 -year -old striker has a release of up to 100 million euros (equivalent to 85 million pounds). This is the number that Sporting has repeatedly emphasized that the only condition for selling people. However, a source from Portugal's A Bola sports newspaper recently revealed an unexpected detail: Gyokeres had an additional clause that allows him to leave for only 60 million euros.
Specifically, when joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 for 20 million euros, his representative successfully negotiated the terms of 10% from any offer that Sporting refused to be worth over 60 million euros. This means that, if refusing to propose to this landmark, Sporting will have to pay additional money to the representative.
To avoid having to sell a star at a low price, Sporting issued a warning that if Cetinkaya activated the term of 60 million euros, the club would only let him leave if the team spent 100 million euros. In case of not activating the terms, Sporting is ready to sit at the negotiating table for about 80 million euros (£ 68.6 million).
Now, both Arsenal and Man United are clearly necessary to pursue Gyokeres. The only problem is whether they are willing to spend bold to win the signature of one of the hottest “hottest” strikers in Europe.
