Despite losing the No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 1-6, 5-7 in the first round of Wimbledon 2025, Carson Branstine still attracted special attention from the media thanks to the impressive life story.
Branstine was born in 2000 in California (USA) but chose to play for Canada since 2017. She is also cousin of baseball superstar Freddie Freeman (Los Angeles Dodgers).
Branstine started playing tennis from the age of 7, who represented the US before moving to Canada since 2017. She has won the young couple Australian Open and Roland Garros 2017 with Bianca AndroScu, ranked 4 children in the world of ITF.
Branstine owns 7 women's single IT titles, used to the WTA 125 final at Cancun (2025). Wimbledon was the first time Branstine participated in the official round of a Grand Slam tournament, after each Roland Garros qualifier. Branstine is currently ranked 194th on the WTA rankings.
In addition to the performance, Carson is also a professional model, managed by Wilhelmina Company – who has cooperated with big brands such as Zara, Lululemon. In addition, she also had to do a shipper to give food to earn extra income.
She revealed that she used income from a modeling career to cover travel expenses and play in small prizes, because bonuses from ITF tournaments were not enough to pay for a self -sufficient tennis player. At one point, her bank account was only only 19 pounds (26 USD), causing her to burst into tears because of the future.
Branstine graduated last year with “Social, Ethical and Law” specialty, and at the same time, there are two sub -specialties in philosophy and sports management. She used to practice at the lawyer office, participating in supporting cases of family law. She is considering studying the law to pursue her dream of becoming an entertainment lawyer at the end of the tennis career.
When asked about the emotional competition at Wimbledon, Carson said that she “almost unable to feel” because everything happened too quickly. “When I knew I would fight in the central yard, I really realized my dream came true,” she shared.
Despite being eliminated, Branstine played on set 2 with Sabalenka – one of the top players in the world – and showed that he could completely compete in the top playground. “I feel enough to fight anyone,” Branstine said after the match.
Thanks to the first time attending the Wimbledon main round, Branstine received a reward of up to £ 66,000, the number far beyond what she had had in her account. This is a big turning point to help her have more motivation and conditions to continue pursuing professional tennis.
