On July 10, 2025, Nam Dinh Club officially announced the reunion with talented young midfielder Tran Ngoc Son, marking the emotional return of the “strange bird wings” that used to attract attention at Thien Truong yard.

Born in 2003 in My Loc, Tran Ngoc Son was a great hope of Nam Dinh football when summoned to U23 Vietnam to prepare for the U23 tournament of Southeast Asia 2023. With the speed, technique and ability to create mutations on the left corridor, Ngoc Son quickly became a familiar name in the Nam Dinh squad under coach Vu Hong Viet.
In the 2023 season, Ngoc Son scored 3 goals in 13 matches in V.League, in the top 3 nominations 'Best Young Players in the season'. Coach Vu Hong Viet once commented: “Ngoc Son has mature, high mutations and promises to be a big star in the future.”
However, in the 2024/25 season, witnessing the fierce competition in the Nam Dinh squad, especially with the appearance of names like Nguyen Tuan Anh and quality foreign soldiers. Tran Ngoc Son, along with a number of other young players who could not compete for the main stone and were facilitated to leave the team to gain more experience. Ngoc Son farewell to Nam Dinh in July 2024 to move to PVF-Cand Club on loan.
After a year of trying in the new environment, the 2003 midfielder is said to have grown more in both skills and competition thinking. His return is considered part of Nam Dinh's squad restructuring plan, towards the V.League 2025/26 season with the goal of successfully defending the championship.
This reunion not only has professional significance but also arouses the pride of Nam Dinh fans. With the tradition of using the “homegrown” players of Nam Dinh Club, Ngoc Son is expected to continue the spirit of dedication of seniors such as Xuan Tan, Dinh Son and Minh Tuan to contribute to maintaining the local identity of the team.
Nam Dinh fans are eagerly waiting for Ngoc Son's performance in the familiar shirt. With the speed, technique and desire to devote, the “youngest brother” of Nam Dinh football promises to bring booming moments, contributing to bringing the Southern team to achieve success at the V.League 2025/26 as well as in other arenas such as the AFC Champions League or Shopee Cup.
