Vietnamese women's volleyball is crowned Sea V-League, ready to fight in Spain & Kenya


After winning the SEA V-League 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was ready for the next challenges. Those are friendly matches with Spain and Kenya.

On the evening of August 10 in Ninh Binh, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team made a history when the first history of defeating Thailand with a choking score of 3–2, thereby winning the 2nd stage of the Sea V-League 2025. This is a very meaningful milestone, when Vietnamese women have ended a series of consecutive victories of Thailand in this tournament for more than two years.

The match was tense from the beginning: Thailand won the first two sets with the difference of 25–17 and 26–24. However, Vietnam has shown the spirit of resilience and great bravery. They won back in both set 3 and 4 with 25–17 and 25–22, forcing the opponent to set the decision. In the fifth set, the equilibrium ratio of 14–14 and the Bich Tuyen player shone with the decisive shot, helping the home team to finish the set with a victory of 16–14 in the burst of the audience.

This resounding victory not only brought in the championship but also helped Vietnamese women's volleyball to rise to the 22nd place in the world, the highest ranking in the history of the team. The team has 14.58 points thanks to the victories against the Philippines and Indonesia, bringing the total score to 155.79. Vietnam is only one step inferior to Thailand (position 21), with a distance of 4–5 points.

Immediately after the coronation, teachers and coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet moved to Dong Anh Stadium (Hanoi) to enter the training and friendly training phase to prepare before the 2025 World Championship in Thailand.

From August 16-18, the Vietnamese team will encounter two very strong opponents, Kenya and Spain in the circle format, thereby improving the quality of preparation. Notably, Kenya is a rival in Group G with Vietnam in the upcoming world tournament, and Spain is an experienced European team.

The SEA V-League championship is a big push for Vietnamese women's volleyball. Not only is the professional affirmation but also a testament to the outstanding progress in investment, tactics and the spirit of competition. This will be a solid pedal for the next continental and international journey of the “Golden Star Warrior” girls.
