The former MU midfielder, Nemanja Matic, has not had a stop in the new season after being liquidated.
The 37 -year -old has been terminated by Lyon at night before the opening day of Ligue 1, only 18 months after joining the club. News announcement in a statement, Les Gones wrote: “Nemanja Matic and OL ending the cooperation. Thank you for all the wonderful moments, Nemanja. Good luck in the future.”
Therefore, Matic can be signed as a freelance player this summer, and according to Sky Sports Italia, he negotiated with the new Sassuolo promotion team on a transfer to Serie A.
The representative of the Serbian player had positive negotiations with coach Fabio Grosso and CEO of Guovanni Carnevali of Sassuolo Club this week. If completed, this agreement will witness Matic returning to Italy's top tournament just a few years after having a season in Roma, where he has 50 appearances under Jose Mourinho.
Matic joined Lyon in January last year from Rennes and he had 55 appearances. There is no reason to be given why Lyon terminates the contract with the former MU star.
In June, Lyon was relegated Ligue 2 because of the difficult financial situation, after announcing nearly 500 million euros in October last year. However, Les Gones appealed against the relegation and won, meaning they will play the 37th consecutive season in France's highest tournament.
