The No. 1 star of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen suddenly retreated just one day before the team to Thailand. Thus, the team of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet lost the “trump card” before the world championship.
On the morning of August 19, Truyen Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen suddenly asked to withdraw from the team for “family reason”. This decision was made just a day before the team moved to Thailand to attend the 2025 World Championship, making the coaching staff unable to supplement personnel. Vietnam will attend the tournament with 13 athletes, of which only one pass is Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh.
The absence of Bich Tuyen certainly left a large space. In the past two years, she is the main attack, often shining at difficult times. In the final of the second stage of Sea V.League against Thailand, the beating hand in 2000 scored 45 points, helping the team to make a historic championship.
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) confirmed: “For personal reasons, athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen cannot attend the 2025 World Championship. The Federation and the coaching staff respect this decision, and affirmed that Bich Tuyen is always an important factor and the door back to the national team is always open when she is ready.”
The 2025 World Championship marks the first time the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has participated in the largest playground. This is a valuable opportunity for teachers and coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to rub with the leading volleyball platforms, accumulating experience for the key goal of SEA Games 33.
According to the draw results, Vietnam team is in Group G with Poland (3rd class in the world), Germany (class 11) and Kenya (rank 22). The team will meet Poland (August 23), Germany (August 25) and Kenya (August 27).
The tournament gathered 32 teams, divided into 8 pounds, competing in the round to select two teams in each group in the round of 16 teams.
