Manny Pacquiao will officially return to the spectacular ring with a semi -semi -Chinese championship match against Mario Barrios next month.
The Filipino legend – with the nickname “Pacman” – will end 4 years of absence from professional boxing at the age of 46, to challenge a younger champion than himself to 16 years old.
Pacquiao is the only boxer in the history of winning the championship in 8 different weight classes, and he has never played professionally since the defeat against Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.
However, Pacman still actively participated in the performances, most recently the draw against Rukiya Anpo last year.
Despite the long time of not playing and the age was high, the new member of this fame temple (Hall of Fame) still suddenly appeared at the No. 5 position on the semi -Chinese ranking rankings of the WBC.
However, the President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, admitted this was a mistake, and Pacquiao was later withdrawn from the top 40 of the rankings.
Up to now, Pacquiao has played 72 matches, won 62 times (including 39 wins with knock-out), and if he won the next match, he will become the oldest champion ever crowned in the weight of 147 pounds (about 66.7kg).
The match between Pacquiao and Barrios will take place on July 19 at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, USA. The exact time has not been announced, but the main match (main event) is expected to start at about 4 am by the time he, or about 10 am Vietnam time on Sunday (July 20).
