Jannik Sinner 'Poisoned Word' Word, Doubt received shock defeat at Halle Open

Jannik Sinner, despite losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final, still shows the level after returning. But it was the Sinner of the single -playing content, and when it was paired, it was another story.

After the emotional defeat against Carlos Alcaraz in the final of Roland Garros 2025, Jannik Sinner temporarily puttes his tennis to spend time to rest with his family. Meanwhile, Alcaraz chose to enjoy a short holiday on Ibiza Island before entering the preparation stage for Wimbledon.

Both top players in the world plan to return to play about two weeks before Wimbledon. Alcaraz chose to award Queen's Club Championships, and Sinner marked the return at Halle Open, ATP 500 on the pitch in Germany – where he was crowned last year.

It was also the first title of Sinner as the world's No. 1 player. A year later, he returned to Halle as the defending champion and still holding the No. 1 world, continuing to be expected to successfully defend the title.

However, unlike last year, Sinner's launch at Halle 2025 did not take place in the single content but in the men's double content, where players often used to get used to the pitch.

This year, Sinner paired with compatriots Lorenzo Sonego, a familiar partner in the previous seasons, although recently the two did not play regularly. This is also the first double battle of Sinner in 2025.

Their opponent is the couple Karen Khachanov and Alex Michelsen – the players who have experience in the field earlier, especially Michelsen has just reached the double final at Stuttgart last week.

Despite being broken at the beginning of the match, Sinner and Sonego quickly showed his intention and strong area to win in a row of 5 games, closing the first set with a score of 6-2. They continue to maintain high form in the two sets when leading 3-0 early, seemingly a smooth victory.

However, the development then completely reversed. Khachanov and Michelsen began to regain the game, leveled 3-3, then continuously exploited the loopholes in Sinner's play-Sonego. After being led 4-5, the couple won 12 of the last 13 balls, completing the backwards with a score of 7-5 in the second set.

The match must be determined by the Super Tie-break series-the shortened format instead of the three sets in the ATP Tour match. Here, Sinner and Sonego almost no longer maintain physical strength and stability, to lose quickly 3-10, thereby being eliminated from the first round of the double content.

After the unsatisfactory failure in the double content, Sinner will focus completely on the goal of defending the championship of the single content at Halle. After passing Yannick Hanfmann in the first round, Sinner will continue to confront Alexander Bublik in the second round.

With great expectations from fans and himself holding the No. 1 position in the world, all eyes are focusing on Sinner's journey at Halle Open 2025 – where he not only protects the title but also prepares psychologically for the way to conquer Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam in the year.
