Liverpool has just announced the successful recruitment of Freddie Woodman. The 28 -year -old goalkeeper will sign a contract with The Reds after his current agreement with Preston North End expired by the end of this month.
The official announcement from the club wrote: “As a former U21 player, Woodman had 138 appearances in the 3 Preston seasons at Deepdale, and won the club's best player in the club in the 2022/23 season”.
“Before that, he also played many teams in England and Scotland like Newcastle United, Swansea City and Kilmarnock. Woodman will start practicing the pre -season with coach Arne Slot's squad when they return to the Axa training center next month.”
Woodman is Liverpool's fifth rookie this summer, playing a substitute and competing with Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili in the wooden frame.
As a domestic training player, Woodman will not occupy the foreigner in the list of 17 Liverpool “Nongrown” players in the UEFA arena.
Before Woodman, Liverpool welcomed Milos Kerkez – the contract that helps the Summer Spending of the Premier League champion can be up to £ 216 million. Their summer begins with the deal to recruit Armin Pecsi for a fee of 3 million pounds from Puskás Akadémia.
Later, the two stars of Bayer Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong (£ 29 million) and Florian Wirtz (£ 116 million), arrived at Anfield. Goalkeeper Mamardashvili, who has been agreed upon by Liverpool with Valencia last year for £ 29 million, will also officially join Arne Slot's squad in the new season.
Speaking to the media last month, coach Arne Slot predicted that the summer transfer period would be extremely exciting. “We always want to own the best and ideal players to sign them as soon as possible.”
“But it is not really easy to recruit good players – it is even more difficult to do it early in the transfer window. But this club does not have to start working today.
“I fully believe that if we identify the right people, the club will do our best to bring him home. When it happens – and whether or not it happens – let's wait and see, because I am very satisfied with the squad I have.”
