Former Arsenal player William Gallas criticized coach Mikel Arteta and the Gunners for not keeping the defensive midfielder Thomas Partey.
Arsenal has not had any contracts in the summer of 2025, but Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard are expected to land in the Emirates Stadium in the coming days. In the opposite direction, Arsenal broke up with Jorginho and Kieran Tierney on the form of free transfer and Raheem Sterling returned to Chelsea after lending.
Thomas Partey will also leave the Emirates Stadium on the form of free transfer. The Ghana player negotiated the extension of the contract after the season that is considered to be the best of England with Arsenal, but the two sides are said to not agree on the terms, so the 1993 midfielder will leave.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have expressed their interest in signing a contract with Partey, who has appeared 167 appearances for Arsenal since moving from Atletico for 45 million pounds by 2020. Former Arsenal player, William Gallas has criticized coach Mikel Arteta and Gunners for not holding Thomas Partey, he said:
“I think with his quality, he can stay in Arsenal. With what he has devoted to the club over the past few years, he deserves to continue playing in the Emirates. With Arsenal's squad depth, I think they need to keep him stay.
However, the recent information showed that he would leave, I was really disappointed if he left Arsenal. I think that leaving him is a mistake. ”
The recruitment of Zubimendi and Norgaard will compensate for the departure of Jorginho and Partey. After signing a contract with these two midfielders and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa, Arteta will prioritize recruiting a new striker, of which Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko are two names on his desired list.
