Man City finally recruited a new goalkeeper and the name joined Etihad is Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Donnarumma came to Man City for a fee of over 30 million euros, can be up to 35 million euros, depending on the achievements of the Euro 2020 champion at the new club. Donnarumma will sign a long -term contract and conduct medical examination today (September 1).
The deal opens a new chapter in Man City's wooden frame, when Pep Guardiola needs a change to consolidate the defense route, which has been questioned many times in the beginning of the season. James Trafford is given the opportunity instead of Ederson but he has not brought a sense of security in the wooden frame.
Therefore, Pep Guardiola and BLD Man City were forced to pay the premise to upgrade this area. Earlier, Man City has completed the terms of the people with Donnarumma. With a height of 1m96 with long arms and seasoned experience at the level of club and Italy, Donnarumma is expected to bring certainty, and add steel to the ambition to conquer the titles of the former Premier League champion.
On the PSG side, the decision to sell Donnarumma has closed 3 years of cooperation with many storms. Although there were moments of shine, this goalkeeper has never made coach Luis Enrique feel secure about him.
Donnarumma joined PSG from AC Milan in the summer of 2021 in a free form. So far, he has all 161 appearances for the French team, receives 156 goals and keeps a clean sheet of 56 matches, contributes greatly to help the Champions League championship last season.
The reason for the relationship between Donnarumma and PSG is that the 26 -year -old goalkeeper demands a high salary increase in the negotiation process to extend the contract. PSG realized that they could not afford it, so decided to sell Donnarumma this summer because the Italian player was only bound to the summer of 2026.
Earlier, PSG also recruited a new goalkeeper to replace Donnarumma, which was Lucas Chevalier from Lille for 40 million euros. Overall, Donnarumma leaving Paris is not too regretful for PSG.
