According to the British press, striker Viktor Gyokeres decided to come to Arsenal and did not join MU after witnessing how Ruben Amorim coach was horizontal to his compatriot at the club, the center -back Victor Lindelof.
This summer, Gyokeres is one of the names of fever in the transfer market, after scoring up to 54 goals in 52 matches in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon last season.
Arsenal is now said to be leading the race to recruit the Swedish striker, while MU and Juventus also show interest. However, according to Record (Portugal), Gyokeres changed the decision not to go to Old Trafford after seeing coach Amorim “eliminating” Lindelof.
Gyokeres and Lindelof have the same representative Hasan Cetinkaya, a Turkish businessman. Cetinkaya once persuaded Gyokeres to join Amorim in Sporting in 2023, instead of other Premier League clubs.
Therefore, when witnessing how Amorim treated Lindelof, the representative was said to feel offended, and Gyokeres no longer wanted to reunite his former teacher in Man United.
Lindelof joined MU from Benfica in 2017 for £ 31 million, 284 appearances for the Red Devils. However, the 2024/25 season was the least season when he competed (only 25 matches) and was eventually liquidated by the club in the form of freelance this summer, after not being extended.
Meanwhile, Gyokeres was recruited by Sporting from Coventry City for about 20 million pounds after he scored 38 goals in the Championship in two seasons. The incident between Lindelof and Amorim made the striker born in 1998 withdraw from the deal to MU, although this team really wanted to own a new class before the 2025/26 season.
