At the end of the summer transfer period 2025, Marseille recruited versatile defender Benjamin Pavard from Inter Milan. The French player who won this 2018 World Cup championship in front of the Marseille's eyes on loan and could be bought next year.
Pavard is quite versatile because he can play both in the center of the center and right -back. As an adult player from Lille's training, Pavard has not played football in France since 2016. He had 7 years of fighting in Germany for Stuttgart and Bayern before joining Inter in 2023.
Notably, Pavard was the fourth player who won the world gold cup back to Ligue 1 to play this summer. The three World Cup 2018 champions who repatriated before him were not long, Olivier Giroud (joining Lille), Paul Pogba (moved to Monaco) and Florian Thauvin (signing a contract with a lens).
Interestingly, before receiving Pavard, Marseille also recruited a defensive expert, the left -back, Emerson Palmeri, from Chelsea. The contract to lend the player between the western west of London and the port city team is valid for 12 months.
Back to Pavard, if he played well, it would probably be bought by Marseille next summer. To own this player born in 1996, Marseille needs to pay Inter 15 million euros of transfer fee. This figure is only half of what Inter has paid to Bayern to bring Pavard back to Giuseppe Meazza
