Eugenie Bouchard will officially say farewell to tennis after attending the National Bank Open held in his hometown Montreal in late July 2025. At the age of 31, she closed the professional journey at the right place of the dream.
The National Bank Open will start on July 26. Eugenie Bouchard was given a special capacity by the organizers to participate at this big event. On social networks, she shared emotionally:
“Everyone knows when it is the end. For me, that moment is now. And I want to close everything in everything that starts – Montreal.”
Bouchard was born on February 25, 1994 in Montreal, Quebec – the city where she held a racket for the first time and pursued a professional sports dream. 2014 was a memorable milestone in her career when she became the first player in Canada to reach the Wimbledon final, before stopping before Petra Kvitova. In the same year, she participated in the semi -finals of Australian Open and Roland Garros, and once climbed to the 5th place in the world – the peak of her career.
Not only prominent on the field, Bouchard also attracted attention thanks to beauty and attractive style. She has been called by many newspapers like The Sun “The hottest player in the world”, compared to symbols like Maria Sharapova or Ana Ivanovic. At the peak period, Bouchard is considered a pioneer for the current Canadian athletes.
However, her career was soon slowed down after the brain shock injury at the US Open 2015. Since then, she has constantly struggled with injuries and style. In the last 5 years, she no longer participated in the main rounds of Grand Slam.
