Joining Leipzig since 2023, initially in the form of loan from Paris Saint-Germain before signing a long-term contract in January last season, Xavi Simons quickly asserted herself. Growing up from the famous training furnace of Barcelona and PSG, Simons has long been considered a gem of European football. His talent peak was displayed at EURO 2024, when he scored in the semi -final against him, leaving a strong impression on the journey with the Netherlands.
Joining Tottenham, Xavi Simons will wear a 7-shirt number, the icon used to be associated with Son Heung-min. Sharing on the launch day, the young star expressed:
“I am really happy and can't wait any longer to start. This is my long dream. When I met the head coach, I immediately knew this was the right stop.
Coach Thomas Frank, who has just started the Premier League season with a shocking victory 2-0 right at Man City, showed excitement:
“I am very happy to have Xavi in the squad. He is young but has accumulated the top competition experience. Simons has the ability to score and create both the number 10 and left wing, and the sharp eyes in the defense. I believe he will quickly integrate and become a part of our very unity collective.”
According to ESPN, Chelsea used to be interested in Simons during the summer but eventually did not make an official proposal, instead focused on recruiting Alejandro Garnacho from Man United for £ 40 million. This is considered an important victory for Tottenham, after they missed Morgan Gibbs-White (staying at Nottingham Forest) and Eberechi Eze (switching to Arsenal).
The appearance of Simons became even more urgent when Tottenham had just lost James Maddison due to traumatic trauma, forced surgery and long -term rest. This addition is expected to help coach Thomas Frank continue to fly high with Spurs after an impressive start.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is still struggling in the transfer market. They may target Fermin Lopez (Barcelona), but to register a new player in the Champions League, the Blues must comply with the financial rules from UEFA. Christopher Nkunku's about to join AC Milan for 42 million euros will help reduce pressure, while the future of Nicolas Jackson is still open between the interest from Newcastle, Aston Villa and Juventus.
