Chiara Tavantino and Benedetta Pilato, two female swimmers in Italy were temporarily held in Singapore for theft.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chiara Tarantino and Benedetta Pilato attended the world swimming championship held in Singapore from July 11 to August 3. Chiara and Benedetta then went on a summer vacation in Bali (Indonesia) with two other teammates, before returning to Italy by a flight departing from Changi airport on August 14.
Shocking, security cameras at the airport recorded the scene of Talantino taking perfume at the duty -free store and sneaking into Pilato's pocket without paying. The two were immediately arrested and brought to the nearest local police station to interrogate.
Tarantino and Benedetta were accused of theft, and at the same time were collected by passports. Also added, Benedetta Pilato is a long -term professional athlete, and has won a 100m gold frog gold medal at the World Championship in 2022. Meanwhile, Talantino also won a medal in some tournaments in Europe.
After the Italian Embassy in Singapore intervened, these two female swimming athletes were transferred to the hotel, continuing to be under house arrest to wait for the ruling from the Singapore authorities. On August 18, Tarantino and Pilato were paid a passport, allowed to leave Singapore. After the scandals occurred, Pilato was on Instagram: “In recent days, I have experienced extremely difficult moments.
I have never intended to perform unsuitable behaviors and those who know me know this well. However, from what happened, I have learned valuable lessons about caution and personal responsibility. ”
