The Tottenham Club Home has officially confirmed the successful recruitment of striker Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, and this player will wear the number 7 shirt that the Korean star Heung-min Son has just left.
“We are delighted to announce the signing with Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The 22 -year -old Dutch 22 -year -old signed a long -term contract with the club and will wear the number 7 shirt,” Tottenham's homepage announced.
Speaking after signing the official contract with Tottenham, Xavi shared: “I am really happy and eager to want to play. I have dreamed about this for a long time. This is a great club and when I meet the head coach, I know this is the right place for me.”
“I will bring the team sophistication but also have to work hard and discipline. I want to do everything I can to win, for the team and for fans,” the Dutch player added.
Referring to the new contract, coach Thomas Frank said: “I am really satisfied when bringing Xavi back – he is a great addition to the squad. He is still young but has a lot of experience and has played a lot of matches in the highest level.”
“Xavi has proven his ability to score and assist, both at the number 10 and left wing. He also has a delicate eye in exploiting the opponent's defense. I believe he will soon join and become a part of the strong team, which has been trying hard,” the Danish strategist added.
Simons is the name in Chelsea's sights, but the FIFA Club World Cup champion decided to recruit Alejandro Garnacho from MU, so he withdrew from this deal. This is a huge advantage for Tottenham to let them alone negotiate with RB Leipzig and close the transfer fee of 51.8 million pounds.
