Experts have explained why Liverpool can still recruit Alexander Isak, although they spent more than £ 280 million in this summer transfer window.
Liverpool's crazy summer
According to the Daily Mail, Isak has asked to leave Newcastle this summer, amid the British rumors with moving to Anfield. Liverpool is also said to have agreed on personal terms with Isak.
However, if coach Arne Slot wants to bring the Swedish striker, Liverpool will have to break the transfer record of English football. Newcastle values its stars from 130 to £ 150 million. It is noteworthy that Liverpool had previously broke the Premier League transfer record when recruiting Florian Wirtz for £ 116 million.
Liverpool has been active in the transfer period this summer, but there is still a financial room to carry out more deals. The reason is because the Merseyside team benefits from the failure to spend strongly last summer, when Federico Chiesa was the only contract for £ 13 million.
Despite not shopping, Liverpool can still win the 2024/25 Premier League championship. That title brought them £ 174.9 million bonuses and created a big financial push to be strong in the summer of 2025.
What about PSR?
For most Premier League clubs, the regulation of profit and sustainability (PSR) is the biggest barrier in the transfer market. These provisions limit the maximum losses of 105 million pounds within 3 years, otherwise it will be punished.
The Premier League has shown that they are willing to deduct points for violating teams, as in the case of Nottingham Forest and Everton. However, Liverpool fans do not need to worry.
According to TBR Football, Liverpool also benefited from the decision of FSG (the owner of the team) when extending the credit limit of the £ 350 million rotation credit will expire this month. This limit is increased by 50 million pounds, although the club does not borrow a single dollar.
In theory, this means that Liverpool has an additional £ 90 million to spend under the PSR frame. Even if Liverpool spends £ 150 million to buy Isak, this fee will be depreciated for 5 years, meaning only £ 30 million is recorded in this year's book.
Why is Liverpool so strong?
Liverpool's frantic shopping is a sharp statement of this team for the ambition to go further in the season 2025/26. The CEO of Billy Hogan said the transfer market is a key factor to affirm its position.
He told The Athletic: “This is a great praise for everyone in both football and business, for coordinating every day to achieve that. We are also aware that, when we just won the 20th British championship, Liverpool is one of the largest clubs in the world. We want to make sure we are behaving in accordance with that stature.”
Who did Liverpool buy this summer?
On Wednesday, Liverpool has completed the Hugo Ekitike recruitment deal, Newcastle's top goal, from Eintracht Frankfurt for £ 79 million. This is their second additional attack after recruiting Florian Wirtz, a 22 -year -old German attacker, from Bayer Leverkusen for £ 116 million including surcharges.
They also signed contracts with replacements for Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold as a full-back. It was Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £ 40 million and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £ 29.5 million.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili also joined Valencia in an agreement that could be up to £ 29 million. Although the agreement was closed last summer, the Georgia goalkeeper still played in Spain last season, before officially moving to Merseyside this summer.
