Arsenal is speeding up the negotiation speed with the determination to complete the procedures for recruiting striker Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting) before the Asian tour. According to British media, the Gunners are ready to give the No. 9 shirt to the Swedish striker.
This is the number of shirts that Gyokeres used in 3 seasons at Sporting Lisbon. Arsenal's number 9 is owned by Gabriel Jesus but the Brazilian striker is ready to switch to using other shirts.
This week, Arsenal will return to the army, then go to Spain to train. With the goal of stabilizing forces soon, the Gunners have accelerated the Sporting Lisbon striker's recruitment negotiation process.
According to the BBC, the new sports director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta, took a flight to Portugal to negotiate with Sporting. This trip by Arsenal leader is very promising because the Gunners are willing to do everything to own Gyokeres.
Sporting Lisbon is ready to sell Gyokeres this summer but requires a 68.9 million pound transfer fee (equivalent to 80 million euros). Arsenal offered a total of 64.6 million pounds, including £ 56 million and 8.6 million pounds of payment according to the arising terms.
However, according to Sunsport, it is likely that Arsenal will have to spend £ 68.9 million as required by Sporting to soon close the deal. Coach Arteta is very zealous and wants the Swedish striker and Arsenal to play Asian on July 19.
According to TalkSport, if joining Arsenal, Gyokeres will receive a salary of £ 200,000/week, taking him into the group of the highest paid players at the club. Only 4 players who receive higher salary than Gyokeres at Arsenal include: Declan Rice (240,000 pounds/week), Martin Odegaard (240,000), Gabriel Jesus (265,000) and Kai Havertz (280,000).
Up to this point, Arsenal has welcomed three rookies, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Norgaard. Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon has come closer to the striker Luis Suarez of Almeria. Suarez has been recruited by Sporting to replace Gyokeres since 2025/26.
