Onana's future at Old Trafford was questioned throughout the summer. Although many sources initially confirmed that he would continue to stick, but in reality Man United still aggressively searched for a new goalkeeper. Last week, “Red Devils” spent £ 21.7 million to recruit Senne Lampens from Antwerp, showing that Onana was no longer an inviolable choice.
When Trabzonsport prepares to sell goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir to Galatasaray, they quickly shifted to Onana and closed the speeding agreement before the transfer in Türkiye closed on Friday.
Joining Man United from Inter Milan for £ 47.2 million 2 years ago, Onana has never met expectations. He constantly made silly mistakes in important matches, and recently had an extra harmful phase in the defeat against Grimsby Town at the Carabao Cup. In the Premier League, coach Ruben Amorim gave Altay Bayindir in all three rounds of the opening.
The tendon injury in the pre -season period makes Onana's situation more difficult. Earlier, Man United even quoted 30 million pounds for Monaco while still hesitant between Lampens and Emi Martinez (Aston Villa).
The “Red Devils” decided to choose Lambens had opened the door for Onana to leave, despite his 3 -year contract. With the 29 -year -old goalkeeper preparing to go to Türkiye, Lampens will most likely become the new No. 1 goalkeeper of Man United, besides the support from Bayindir and Tom Heaton.
