AC Milan has confirmed that it is interested in signing a contract with Rasmus Hojlund after the Man United striker was removed by coach Ruben Amorim from the squad in the opening match against Arsenal last Sunday.
Man United suffered a minimum defeat against Mikel Arteta's team at Old Trafford at the Premier League match. With Amorim starting with summer contracts, Matheus Cuha and Bryan Mbeumo in the attacking position as well as choosing Benjamin Sesko to arrive on the bench, Hojlund had to watch the match from the stands.
After only scoring 14 goals in 62 appearances in the Premier League since the completion of the £ 72 million transfer from Atalanta in August 2023, Hojlund was informed that he could leave Man United, although the Danish striker made it clear that he wanted to stay to fight for his position.
But with the 22 -year -old still having a good reputation in Italy after playing for Atalanta, AC Milan is currently interested in bringing him back to Serie A.
“Hojlund is a good choice for us,” AC Milan's Igli Tare sports director told MediaSet Sunday. “We are considering him, but on the transfer market, no one knows what will happen.”
According to ESPN, Man United wants to receive a fee of about £ 30 million for Hojlund, while AC Milan wants to borrow or pay a lower fee. The summer transfer period will be closed on September 1. Man United's coach Amorim did not give any specific information when asked if Hojlund had the future at Old Trafford.
“It was our player, we had to make a choice,” Amorim said. “We have players who have to stay supporting the team from the outside. He has to fight to win his position. Let's wait and see what will happen. Rasmus has the same characteristics as Sesko, so sometimes we need to choose.”
