Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the next tennis event in his schedule after defeating Jannik Sinner in the US Open final.
The young Spanish player won the 6th Grand Slam title with an overwhelming victory against the opponent of Italian over the Sunday night. This victory helped him take revenge after the defeat against this opponent at Wimbledon earlier this year.
The two players confronted each other in the last 3 Grand Slam finals, with Alcaraz won 2 and Sinner won at SW19. Earlier, Alcaraz was expected to play this weekend, when it was summoned into the Spanish team to attend the Davis Cup qualifier with Denmark. However, that will not happen when Alcaraz withdrew.
According to the Spanish newspaper Cadena Ser, Alcaraz will not participate in the tournament due to exhaustion and want to have time to rest. It is known that Jaume Munar was summoned to replace Alcaraz in the squad.
Marcel Granollers is also a worrying case for Spain, when the 39 -year -old player will have to check the leg injury in Barcelona.
Alcaraz is still expected to play in the upcoming Laver Cup, where he will represent the European team with Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, Jakub Mensik, Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli. Later, Alcaraz is expected to compete at China Open, Shanghai Masters and Paris Masters before attending the year -end ATP Finals.
