Carlos Alcaraz turned the king of the pitch: Defeat Lehecka after 3 breathing, crowned Queen's Club

Carlos Alcaraz won the fifth title in the Sunday season (June 22), at the Queen's Club Championships. The Spanish tennis player overcame the opponent with powerful Jiri Lehecka in the dramatic final.

The 22-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz fought resilient to win with a score of 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2, thereby owning the 21st tour level in his career and the second crowned at Queen's Club-after impressive debut in 2023.

Lehecka, playing in the first grass field final, chased closely in the first two sets. The Czech player surprised by pulling Alcaraz into Set 3. But Alcaraz showed a superior level in the decision set to win the final.

“This tournament is really special for me,” Alcaraz said. “I simply come here to play good tennis and get used to the pitch. I feel extremely happy when I once again raised the trophy. Luckily I have many friends and relatives to cheer, helping me feel comfortable both in and on the field.”

With this 2 -hour victory, Alcaraz became the fifth player who played at least 4 titles on the pitch, after Novak Djokovic (8), Matteo Berrettini (4), Taylor Fritz (4) and Nicolas Mahut (4). Wimbledon champion for two consecutive years will reach SW19 with a series of 18 wins – the longest in his career.

Since the defeat in the first round against David Goffin at ATP Masters 1000 Miami, Alcaraz has returned strongly. With a record of 27 wins-only 1 loss from that time, accompanied by titles in Monte-Carlo, Rome, Roland Garros and Queen's Club, Alcaraz is currently expanding the distance with Jannik Sinner (second) to 2,240 points on the ATP Live Race To Turin.

Alcaraz also saved the most impressive ball for the final. Being led 3/4 in the Tie-Break Set two, he tried to save the ball after a small league and was pushed back to the end of the yard, before making a perfect tire through Lehecka's head, causing the audience to explode.

Although Lehecka played very well to balance the score and pull the match to Set Ba – supported by the dual serve at the right time from Alcaraz at the 5/5 score – he could not maintain the excitement. According to statistics from Infosys ATP Stats, Alcaraz only takes 2 of 18 serve points in the decision set.

“I am really hard to find the word to describe my emotions, but I am very happy to have the opportunity to fight for the title today,” Lehecka-who is currently led 1-2 in the confrontation directly with Alcaraz-shared. “Congratulations to Carlos and your team because I did it very well. I have devoted my fullness today, but unfortunately it is not enough.”
