However, the future of this player at Stamford Bridge is not guaranteed, especially when there are many large clubs in Europe to track his situation. Speaking before the match against Benfica in the 1/8 round of FIFA Club World Cup, when asked both Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund, they pursued Acheampong, coach Enzo Maresca of Chelsea said:
“The clubs you mention like Josh but we also like Josh. Any club likes good players. My plan with Josh is quite clear. I think he is likely to become a leading defender in this club.
We have many talented young players, many players in the defender position. The best plan for Josh is to stay with us and I will be very happy if he stays. ”
When asked about the future of Trevoh Chalobah, the Italian coach added: “Trevoh has returned to us in January, helping us win a capacity to attend the Champions League and win the Conference League. We are very happy for his contributions, but anything can happen but not only with Trevoh but also with all 25 players in the team attending FIFA Club Word Cup.”
