Young Vietnamese player Ngo Chung Thien Lam (Jolie Lam) has just pleased the fans when winning the World Pickleball Championship 2025 (WPC Asia Pickleball Grand Slam) in Malaysia in the 4.5+ female couple.
This is a major tournament that brings together 1,500 athletes from more than 20 countries in Asia -Pacific, with a total prize of up to $ 22,000.
Along with the host of the landlord Christine, Jolie Lam has overcome the tough journey to touch the noble title. After the opening of the group stage against Wong Joan – Joseline Tze Qin, the Lam/Vong couple quickly returned with two consecutive victories, winning tickets to the quarterfinals. Here, they defeated the Philippine athletes with a score of 15–6.
The semi -final then witnessed a choking chase, when Lam/Vong surpassed the opponent from Hong Kong and Taipei China with a close score of 21–20. The peak emotion came in the final when they confronted the homeowner Sieu Ee Toi – Delia Arnold. With superior bravery and technique, Lam and Vong won 21–18 to officially take the championship.
Notably, this was the second title within a week of Jolie Lam. Earlier, she just won the U18 women's double content at Asia Pickleball Junior Open 2025 held in Quang Nam. Two consecutive titles in two major tournaments helped to affirm the outstanding step of the player born in 2008, who just switched to playing pickleball about half a year ago.
Jolie Lam used to be a promising young tennis player with three national championships in 2024. Thanks to the ideal body (1m70 high), good physical foundation and quick reflexes, she quickly adapted and shined in Pickleball. Currently, Jolie Lam is considered one of the most expected talents of Vietnamese sports in the international arena.
Victory in Malaysia is not only a memorable milestone for Jolie, but also opened up new hope for Pickleball Vietnam. With the potential and desire to contribute, Jolie Lam is expected to become a typical face of the young generation of Vietnamese athletes in the near future.
