On the morning of July 6 (Vietnam time), the No. 1 player in Vietnam Nguyen Thuy Linh continued the sublimation journey when he successfully defeated Amalie Schulz (Denmark, rank 69 in the world) to win tickets to play the final of the Canadian Badminton Open 2025 – belonging to the BWF World Tour Super 300 system.
The semi -final was dramatic, when Thuy Linh had to take three sets to overcome the opponent. In the first set, she entered the determination but lost close to 21-23 after two Set-point rescue.
However, the bravery of the world number 24 is clearly shown in the following two sets. With smart bridge and solid defense, Thuy Linh won overwhelming 21-11 in Set Hai. Entering the decisive set, she continued to control the game and ended the match with the victory 21-10.
This is the second time in 2025 Thuy Linh participated in the final of a Super 300. In March, she made the German Open final and made a strong impression with a convincing performance.
In Canada Open this year, Thuy Linh's journey is also very arduous, when she constantly has to go back to strong opponents such as Chen Su-Yu (Taiwan) and Wong Ling Ching (Malaysia) in the quarterfinals.
