Ben Foster urged his former club to sign a contract with goalkeeper Nick Pope of Newcastle during the summer transfer window.
Ben Foster feels MU really needs a new goalkeeper before the Premier League in the 2025/26 season started after 10 days. The No. 1 goalkeeper of the Red Devils, Andrre Onana, was injured last month and did not play in any friendly match in the summer of 2025.
The possibility of Onana missed the match against Arsenal in the first round of the Premier League 2025/26 at Old Trafford. MU contacted a number of goalkeepers this summer, including Emiliano Martinez, but Aston Villa refused to suggest the offer on the form of loan from the Old Trafford team.
MU is advised to recruit Nick Pope of Newcastle. |
MU is also said to be interested in signing a contract with the superstar Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain, but Foster urged MU to review Newcastle's Pope Star during the summer transfer window this year.
Newcastle paid 10 million pounds to sign a contract with Pope from Burnley in 2022, Chich Chu accepted to sell him for a fee of £ 10 to £ 15 million in the summer of 2025. The 33 -year -old will have to compete with Aaron Ramsdale next season, so he can choose to leave. Ben Foster said:
“MU is in need of a goalkeeper, really needs a goalkeeper. Nick Pope can deploy the ball from the defense, although it is not his forte.
Onana was injured, it seemed that he would miss a few matches at the beginning of the new season. And there are many questions related to his style and stability, I support MU to buy more goalkeepers and I am very happy if they recruit Pope. ”
So far, Pope has played a total of 95 matches for Newcastle in all competitions and has a lot of experience in the Premier League.
