MU has just made a third proposal worth £ 70 million for Bryan Mbeumo, hoping to end the deadlock lasting nearly three weeks in the negotiation process with Brentford.
Earlier, the second proposal worth £ 62.5 million was rejected by Brentford. However, Mbeumo is said to want to join Old Trafford, and MU believes that the new proposal consists of 65 million pounds with £ 5 million, which will be able to convince Brentford “to release”.
If everything goes smoothly, the 25 -year -old Cameroon will become the third rookie of MU this summer, after Matheus Cunha and young center -back Diego Leon. Mbeumo will need to pass a medical examination before officially debut, so he will most likely be absent in the first friendly match against Leeds this weekend, but can fly to the US to fight next week.
With this deal, coach Ruben Amorim will have two goals No. 1 to play in the “No. 10” position in the favorite 3-4-2-1 diagram. The total amount spent on Cunha and Mbeumo up to more than 130 million pounds, showing the determination to improve the attack of the Red Devils. Last season, they only scored 44 goals in the Premier League, the second lowest among the groups of non -relegated teams and the worst achievement of MU since 1992.
Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, striking in Brentford shirt. Since joining the bees in 2019 for only £ 5.8 million, he has scored 70 goals in 242 matches, including 42 goals in the Premier League. That form made him attract the attention from many big men like Arsenal, Newcastle and especially Tottenham.
In the context of lack of sharp goods and pressure from fans, football director Jason Wilcox and his colleagues see MBEumo as an important contract. Even the legendary Rio Ferdinand had to warn MU: “The deal has lasted for too long. If not completed early, it will be a humiliation for the club. Mbeumo is a player model suitable for good physical strength, energy -rich, scoring in the Premier League. They need to finish right away.”
Notably, in the video of Brentford posted earlier this week, MBeumo still appeared at the beginning of the season with quite comfortable mood, although his future could soon be decided in just a few days.
