MU is moving very close to recruiting goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa in this summer transfer window, according to two sources from Argentina.
One of the positions that MU wants to strengthen in this transfer is the goalkeeper. Andrre Onana has not made an impression since moving from Inter Milan by 2023, with many serious mistakes in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
According to the transfer reporter of Teamtalk, Rudy Galetti, MU is currently seriously considering keeping Onana after having taken into account the sale of him. The sources said that Onana himself wanted to stay in MU and rejected the possibility of moving to Monaco.
However, that does not prevent MU showing interest in bringing Emiliano Martinez to Old Trafford. The transfer reporter Fraser Fletcher of Teamtalk has reported since May that the Red Devils are very serious in recruiting Martinez.
The sources revealed that the World Cup champions were ready to leave Villa, the team was requesting a £ 40 million fee for him.
Martinez is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has become a star at Villa since leaving Arsenal to join the club in 2020. The 32 -year -old star used to FA Cup with Arsenal, and crowned the 2022 World Cup as well as Copa America in 2021 and 2024 with the Argentina team.
A source from Argentina this week said MU is willing to pay 33 million pounds for Martinez, who is also ready to look for challenges. Two other sources in South America, including Minuto Uno, also confirmed that the Red Devils were going very close to the goal of recruiting this goalkeeper.
The source also said that Martinez was “ready to sign a contract with Manchester United, where his best friend and teammate in the national team – Lisandro Martinez were waiting for him”.
Another newspaper of Argentina, Clarin, also reported that Martinez was “nearly completed to Manchester United”. Previously, Barca expressed interest in the former Arsenal goalkeeper before they signed a contract with Joan Garcia.
Martinez has received an offer from the clubs in Saudi Pro League and Galatasaray, but MU is determined to pursue him after coach Ruben Amorim asked the Board of Directors to carry out this deal. If there is Martinez in the wooden frame, MU will definitely own great peace of mind to play.
