A Russian female boxer is facing a wave of intense criticism after filming a rare orangutan smoking electronic smoking (vape) at a Safari park in Crimea.
In the video spreading strongly on social networks, the orangutans named Dana took a breath from Vape many times, before the cheers of Anastasia Luchkina – 24 -year -old boxer boxing, who had just switched to professional competition. Since that shocking incident, Dana began to have “abnormal and worrying” behaviors, according to Russian media.
Zamin.uz newspaper said Luchkina could be permanently banned from Taigan Park – where the incident occurred – and was fined. In addition, the wave of outrage online also aimed at her.
Dana is the only orangutans in Crimea and is in the red book of extinct threat. Zoo staff are concerned that the animal may have swallowed a vape essential oil tube, with a capacity of 2.5-3 ml of liquid nicotine, a toxic substance for animals.
Since the end of the week, at the time of the incident, Dana stopped eating and refused to interact with visitors. Veterinary doctors are conducting tests to evaluate the impact of vape on animal health.
Luchkina's coach Vladimir Akatov, expressed surprised: “I don't know Anastasia smoking. She is currently on the holiday. We will definitely discuss seriously when she comes back.”
Dana has lived at the Crimea Zoo since 2018. The incident quickly spread on the telegram and other social networking platforms, causing annoyance in Russian public opinion.
One wrote: “I hope that the poor orangutans are not infected from Vape.”
Others call for “release the animal and lock the female boxer into the cage instead.” Another comment shared worried: “It swallows the essential oil tube, which is very dangerous and can be fatal.”
According to the rules of Taigan Park, visitors are absolutely banned from teasing, scare animals, or throw objects into the barn. The action of giving hands or objects through the fence is also strictly prohibited. It is still unclear any sanctions that will be applied to Luchkina, as well as the long -term consequences that Dana can suffer.
Luchkina only had a professional match, defeated against Indian boxer Vinaskshi in the King of the Himalayan Ring event in Himachal Pradesh, last month.
