Not long after being eliminated from Wimbledon from the first round, Stefanos Tsitsipas broke up with his girlfriend Paula Badosa. In another development, the player known as “Greek prince” had to receive bad comments from his own teacher, coach Goran Ivanisevic.
In the tournament that took place on the pitch in the UK, Tsitsipas was forced to give up halfway while competing with Valentin Royer because of injury. For his part, Badosa could not save tickets to the second round due to losing to Katie Boulter after three sets.
In a recent interview, coach Ivanisevic could not hide his disappointment when talking about Tsitsipas as follows: “I told him several times that if he solved the private life problem, Tsitsipas would definitely play better.
“Throughout my career, I have never seen anyone inferior in preparing for each match like Tsitsipas. I don't deny Tsitsipas which is a talented player, but it is clear that he lacks professionalism and effort. That is what makes me more disappointed.”
Tsitsipas only ranked No. 24 seeds in Wimbledon. This is his lowest position in the past 4 years. Notably, this 1998 player has gone through 5 Grand Slam awards in a row without passing the second round. After the defeat against Royer, Tsitsipas canceled Badosa and deleted photos on Instagram. Along with that, he confirmed to his friends that he no longer dated the Spanish colleague.
