Villarreal officially recruited Thomas Partey, just a few days after the player was released on bail, related to allegations of rape and sexual assault in London.

Thomas Partey has become a free player since the contract with Arsenal expired on June 30. The 32 -year -old Midfielder Ghana is currently facing 5 rape allegations for 2 women, and one allegation of sexual assault against a third person. These allegations are thought to occur in the period 2021 – 2022, when Partey still wears Arsenal.
According to bail conditions, Partey is not allowed to contact 3 women involved in the incident, and must notify the police about all changes in the residence address or abroad.

In the official announcement, Villarreal said: “The club is aware that the player is currently entangled in the legal proceedings in the UK. Partey asserts our innocence and rejects all the allegations. We respect the principle of innocent speculation and will wait for the final judgment from the judicial agency.
Villarreal also emphasizes his commitment to respectful and diverse values, and strongly condemns all violent acts in any form, including gender violence, discrimination, racism, extracurricular or any behavior that violates human dignity.
Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atletico for a fee of 45 million pounds. In 5 seasons at the Emirates, he played 130 times in the Premier League, including 35 matches before Mikel Arteta's army came to the third consecutive second consecutive time.
Partey is expected to be in court at Old Bailey, London on September 2.
