The No. 1 Badminton player in Vietnam, Nguyen Thuy Linh, is going through the most sublime stage in her career when she has just reached the top 10 of the ranking “Road to the World Tour Finals” 2025 after the runner -up achievement in Canada Open.
Although on the BWF World Ranking, Thuy Linh is still 20, but the live ranking shows her significant performance and progress in this year of competition.
At Canada Open – the tournament of the BWF World Tour Super 300 system just ended on 7/7, Thuy Linh played excellently when winning tickets to the final, defeating many strong opponents.
Especially, in the quarterfinals against Wong Ling Ching (Malaysia), Thuy Linh showed his bravery when he came back and forth spectacularly despite being led Match-point in Set Hai. Despite losing to Manami Suizu (Japan) in the final, the runner -up position also brought her nearly 6,000 points and 9,120 USD bonuses.
Thanks to this impressive performance, Thuy Linh rose to the 10th position on the World Tour Rankings – Live table used to identify 8 players invited to attend the World Tour Finals at the end of the year. This opened a huge opportunity for her to become the first Vietnamese player to participate in this prestigious tournament since Nguyen Tien Minh in 2010.
It should be noted, the BWF World Ranking Group that Thuy Linh is ranked 20 is the total accumulated score in the past 52 weeks, while the “Road to Finals” is only calculated in 2025. With the current momentum, she can completely improve both rankings if continuing to go deep in the upcoming tournaments such as China Open and the World Championship in August.
