Tottenham broke the record for the Japanese player


According to the British press, the Tottenham Club reached an agreement to recruit the Japanese center -back Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale.

The Tottenham side agreed to a 5 million pound fee to bring Takai to the Premier League in the summer of 2025. The 20 -year -old plans to join coach Thomas Frank's main squad in the near future.

Thus, Takai became the player sold abroad with the highest price of the Japanese championship, surpassing the previous record belonging to Kyogo Furuhashi, the striker joined Celtic from Vissel Kobe in 2021.

Earlier, Takai was in the sights of Tottenham's Johan Lenting Technical Director and was expected to develop as strong as other young talents of the club such as Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie.

Currently, Takai is the Japanese national player with 4 appearances. He also played in all matches in J1.League this season for Kawasaki Frontale, scoring 2 goals.
