On August 8, in the second match of Group A World U21 Women's Volleyball Tournament, U21 Vietnam team made a big shock when defeating the U21 Serbia rival.
Serbia is famous for the world's leading strong volleyball background in both men and women, so very few people believe in the surprises of Vietnamese girls. However, the army of coach Nguyen Trong Linh made everyone surprised from the first minute.
Earlier, U21 Serbia was impressed when defeating Puerto Rico 3-0, showing a “terrible” block with 17 successful blocks. However, U21 Vietnam has had a plan to neutralize effectively: Deploying quick and transforming coordination phases, not letting the opponent promptly assemble. Chuyen Hai Khanh Huyen repeatedly launched a smart pass, deceived Serbia, opened the opportunity to score points.
Thanks to that game, U21 Vietnam won 25-21 in Set 1. It is worth mentioning, Serbia has only one successful ball in this set-the number is too small compared to their inherent power.
Entering Set 2, U21 Vietnam did not keep the same form as before but still maintained a resilient fighting spirit. They even saved two set-point, shortening the score to 23-24, before giving up 23-25.
Set 3, Vietnamese girls continue to be surprised when leading before 19-14 and ending with the victory 25-22. To set 4, the match took place with suffocating. Serbia led 10-6, but U21 Vietnam broke back 11-10. When the score was 13-13, representatives of Southeast Asia recorded 5 points to lead 18-13.
Although the opponent shortened the gap, U21 Vietnam was still brave to close the set of 25-23 victory, thereby winning the final 3-1.
This result is really shocking because U21 Serbia is one of the strongest teams in the tournament, while U21 Vietnam has just appeared for the first time. With two consecutive victories, teachers and coach Nguyen Trong Linh expanded the opportunity to reach the top 4 Group A and win tickets to the round of 16 teams.
According to statistics, this match Dang Thi Hong scored 15 points, Le Thuy Linh scored 14 points, Ngo Thi Bich Hue scored 13 points. On the other side, Mihajlovic scored 14 points for women U21 Serbia, Gagic 13 points and 11 -point Skocajic. These are the most prominent names in this memorable competition. In the next match, U21 Vietnam will encounter U21 Canada at 13:00 on August 9.
