The Vietnamese women's volleyball team ended the journey at the 2025 World Championship in Thailand with a 0-3 defeat against Kenya in the final round of the group stage, marking a series of 3 matches.
The defeat against Kenya in Group G not only marked the difference in class but also caused significant losses in the score on the FIVB rankings.
The fact that Kenya, who was 5 steps behind Vietnam before the tournament, won the teachers and coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet deducted 12.77 points. In total, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball team was deducted 19.04 points after 3 matches, including 6.26 minus points after the defeat of Germany and 0.01 points after the defeat against Poland.
This result caused the team to fall from the 22nd to 28th position in the world with 136.75 points. Meanwhile, Kenya broke from 27th to 21st, showing significant improvement thanks to the victory over Vietnam.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand became the only representative in the 1/8 round and reached the 18th rank, away from Vietnam 10 steps.
Serious score damage and this falling drop not only affects the international position of Vietnam but also asks questions about the gap between the country's volleyball and the powers.
However, although not winning any, Vietnamese women's volleyball team still gains a lot of valuable experiences, especially when participating in a world -class tournament.
In the coming time, the improvement of tactics, physical strength, and especially the training system to narrow the gap with the leading group of continents and the world is an urgent task for Vietnamese volleyball to return to the proud position.
