Goalkeeper Andre Onana is about to leave Man United after two turbulent seasons at Old Trafford. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Borrowing of Onana to Trabzonsport (Türkiye) was completed with the familiar saying “Here We Go!”.
Onana signed all the necessary documents and was only waiting for Trabzonsport to approve the last time before coming to Türkiye in the next few days. Notably, this deal does not include a borrowed or borrowing fee.
After the release season of 2023/24 is relatively stable, Onana decline in the 2024/25 season. He constantly made mistakes, lost confidence in fans and was removed by coach Ruben Amorim. In the early matches this season, Altay Bayindir was even more prioritized than the Cameroon goalkeeper.
However, Bayindir is not able to carry the number one position, forcing Man United to spend about £ 18 million to recruit young Senne Lampens from Belgium on the last day of the summer transfer period. Lampens is expected to be the official choice in the wooden frame after a series of international matches, while Bayindir will play a substitute.
The arrival of Lampens caused one of the two old goalkeepers to leave, and Onana was the chosen person. Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Onana agreed to leave Man United, after the two parties reached agreement with Trabzonsport. The Turkish team wants to close the contract within the next 24 hours to supplement the force.
Onana joined Man United from Inter Milan for nearly £ 50 million in the summer of 2023 to replace David de Gea. However, after only two seasons, he had to leave Old Trafford in silence. This is considered a major failure in the transfer policy of Man United over the years, when they continue to “lose money” because of the inappropriate contracts.
With Onana, the new adventure at Trabzonsport may be an opportunity for him to find his form after a decline in the Premier League.
