Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided updated information about Liverpool's next move on Techmart after reaching a big step with Hugo Ekitike.
After a busy summer transfer, Liverpool's latest move helped them get closer to Ekitike. The French striker came to the United Kingdom to complete the medical examination at the Merseyside Club after the two teams reached the price agreement.
Ekitike followed a series of players who have moved to Anfield since the summer transfer window opened. Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have also been added, showing that The Reds is very serious in preparing for the 2025/2026 season.
In his exclusive Givemesport news, Romano answered the question of whether Liverpool would want to buy another striker and another defender after they finished the agreement with Ekitike. Romano confirmed that adding a player in each position is capable, but that will depend on finance and opportunities.
“It is a possibility (signing a contract with a striker and a defender), yes. It will also depend on finance and opportunities, but that is possible,” Romano said.
Liverpool has built a squad that is sure to compete for the Premier League championship again, but does not give up the opportunity to enhance quality personnel when possible. The addition of a center -back may be their next priority when Ibrahima Konate has only one contract, while Jarrel Quanusah has left to join Bayer Leverkusen.
The addition of a left -wing player can also be the next priority, when Luis Diaz is trying to leave. Liverpool has very few options to play on the left wing and may need a specialized player for this position.
